The first day of our Nantucket TV show shoot was pretty busy, and one of the highlights was a visit to the Cisco Brewery.
We were greeted by the affable brewmaster himself—Jeffrey Horner ( how can you be a brewmaster and not be affable?). The first thing Jeff asked was whether we’d like a beer. Dumb question. So with fresh Grey Lady ales in hand, we embarked on a tour of the brewery and the Cisco compound, which is actually a hip beer garden with live music, a raw bar, a brick oven pizzeria and several bars—all serving fresh Cisco beverages of course. It’s all located on a working farm and vineyard, and many of the herbs used to create the specialty brews are grown on site.
As we discovered, Cisco makes more than beer and ale. It’s also a distillery that turns out award-winning vodka, rum and whiskey. Jeff explained the distillation and brewing processes in detail, and we learned a lot. If you visit Nantucket, we can definitely recommend a side trip to the brewery, located at 5 Bartlett Farm Road, just a short bike or taxi ride from Nantucket Harbor.
