Beginning last Sunday (September 8, 2013), the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission has closed the entire Long Island Sound lobster fishery until November 28, according to an article on NewsTimes.com.
Since landing a record 1.8 million pounds of lobster in the western basin of Long Island Sound in 1998, the fishery has collapsed, with less than 15,000 pounds landed in 2012.
