For decades, Connecticut oysters have been in strong demand across the country and internationally, particularly in the summertime.
One reason is that the state’s Long Island Sound-grown Blue Point oysters, unlike some warmer water varieties, had never seen a widespread, bacteria-related recall.
That made the August 5  voluntary recall of oysters harvested off Norwalk and Westport all the more disturbing.
