The 2013 Connecticut Small Craft Symposium will be held on Saturday, March 9, at New Haven’s Wilbur Cross High School. The day will include free lectures, demonstrations and displays for everyone interested in the sport of paddling.

Lecture topic include:

  • choosing a kayak
  • SUP basics
  • small-craft navigation
  • cold-water safety tips
  • reading a river
  • essential daytrip equipment
  • kayak bracing and rolling

For the second year, Changing Tides PaddleCraft, New Haven Parks and the American Canoe Association are collaborating to bring this free event to the public. Many of last year’s participants have joined the team, and several new ones are also onboard.
