The derelict fishing boat Challenge, long an eyesore in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, is being demolished, according to an article on SouthCoastToday.com.
On Tuesday morning (October 22, 2013), a crane tore out the rusty mast, oil tanks and rotted wood from the scalloper, which has been lying on the bottom on its port side at the Linberg Marine dock for almost 5 years. The Challenge was the last eastern rig wooden boat that called New Bedford Harbor home.
