Officials in communities on the North Shore of Massachusetts want three rivers dredged — the Essex, the Ipswich and the Annisquam rivers. But, according to an article in the Gloucester Times, their pleas have so far been decline by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The mouths of all three rivers have been increasingly clogged by sand. By officials with the Army Corps of Engineers say they currently don’t have the funds for such projects.
