New Haven Register: The shipping channel in New Haven’s harbor is filling up. It was last dredged in 2004. The hurricanes of the last 2 years stirred the harbor’s bottom, further filling the shipping channel.

While restoring the channel to its full 35’ depth and 400’ to 800’ width is a top priority of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, there is no certainty that the $10 million needed for the project will find its way into next year’s federal budget.
