New York Times: One day after a New Jersey commuter ferry slammed into a Lower Manhattan dock, injuring scores of passengers, the vessel’s captain trained investigators’ attention on problems with the control system, which he said did not respond as he tried to put the boat in reverse near shore.

The captain, identified by the ferry company, Seastreak, as 36-year-old Jason Reimer, spoke for more than 3 hours on Thursday [January 10] with the National Transportation Safety Board, which is leading the investigation.
