The Coast Guard medically evacuated a fisherman approximately 100 miles southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts, Wednesday, January 9, at approximately 6:00 p.m.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England were notified at approximately 3:50 p.m. Wednesday from the 88’ trawler Sao Paulo reporting that a 30-year-old crewmember was suffering from severe stomach and back pains.
A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., rescue helicopter crew immediately launched and safely hoisted the fisherman at approximately 6:00 p.m.
He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
