Coast Guard Station Montauk crews are searching for a commercial fisherman near Montauk, New York, today.
Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector Long Island Sound, in New Haven, Connecticut, were contacted by a local fisherman at approximately 6:30 a.m., reporting that a male fisherman had gone missing 5 miles south of Montauk Point. The man was last seen when he assumed watch on the vessel at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23.
Two rescue boat crews from Station Montauk, the Cutter Sailfish from Sandy Hook, New Jersey, and 2 rescue helicopters from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod in Cape Cod, Mass. are assisting in the search.
