The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has submitted plans to the state Coastal Resources Management Council to extend 2 observation decks 12’ seaward at Salty Brine State Beach in Galilee to make the water more accessible to visitors.

“It’s a fishing area. People are still going down on the rocks to fish. We are going to [extend the decks] so people can get closer to the water’s edge,” said Joseph Dias, chief of DEM’s Division of Planning and Development.
