The HMS Bounty was sailing home from New London, Connecticut when it sank off the North Carolina coast on Monday, according to an article in the Hartford Courant.

The Bounty had spent a month in Maine receiving repairs, and, on its way home to St. Petersburg, Florida, the ship made a stop in New London for a gathering with crew from the USS Mississippi submarine on October 25.
