The New Hampshire Boat Museum of Wolfeboro is organizing an exhibit for the 2014 season that will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Smith River Canoe and Kayak Race. The exhibit will open to the public on Saturday, May 24, and remain on view through Monday, October 13.

Staff are currently seeking memorabilia to display in the exhibit. They are looking for photographs, awards, costumes worn by participants, or any other items of interest. In particular, they are seeking items from the 1970s such as T-shirts and awards. The staff is also looking for one canoe and one kayak that were used in the race to put on display.

Lenders must be willing to allow their items to be displayed from May 24 to October 13. Smaller items will be displayed in a locked case, and all items on loan are covered by the Museum’s insurance policy.
