If you like jazz and boats, combine the 2 this August 17 and 18, 2013, by attending the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival at Salem Willows, on Juniper Point.

Boaters can anchor off the point or grab a mooring in Salem Harbor before taking a dinghy to the dock at the Salem Willows Pier. The dock is free, and was recently rebuilt.

The festival is also free to attend, and will feature music by Dwight and Nicole, Aruda Wakening, Turuaz, Diane Blue & Toni Lynn Washington and more. Other highlights include a beer garden, music workshops, artisan fair and kids activities.

The festival is a volunteer-run nonprofit event that raises money for education causes on the North Shore.
