The Coast Guard is searching for a missing kayaker, Matt Grabowski, 30, after he was reported overdue at approximately 11:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England were notified of the missing person after he had missed his scheduled call check-in on Thursday. He was expected to be kayaking around Isle au Haut, Maine.

Grabowski left Hatch Cove Stonington, Maine, Tuesday, for a several-day kayaking and camping trip and was scheduled to return to Stonington on Friday. Grabowski is reported to be kayaking in a 14’ yellow kayak and his last known position was in the vicinity of Burnt Island or Pell Island on the north side of Isle Au Haut.

Grabowski’s last known position is Burnt Island, where he made a phone call to check in at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday night. Grabowski was camping in a one-man orange tent.
