CapeCodOnline: They came empty-handed and left with dozens of quahogs — some the size of their hands.
Several children and their parents showed up Sunday evening to the Bridge Street Landing for a free shellfishing class for kids offered by Barnstable’s Natural Resources Division.
“It’s great to see the young kids show an interest in shellfishing,” said Fred Dempsey, 78, a West Barnstable resident and a member of the Barnstable Association for Recreational Shellfishing. Dempsey was one of about a dozen volunteers who showed up to help kids dig up quahogs.
