Lowell’s Boat Shop of Amesbury, Massachusetts, launched its replica whaleboat Sunday, October 6. The 28’ 19th-century replica whaleboat was launched from the shop’s dock into the Merrimack River, after which the boatbuilders and apprentices rowed it upriver.

Next spring, the whaleboat will be placed on the Charles W. Morgan, which was relauched this summer after a years-long restoration project. The Morgan is the world’s last wooden whaling ship.
