The Maine lobster population is booming like never before. But an article in the Bangor Daily News profiles how that is proving to be a double-edged sword that is making it difficult for lobstermen to earn a profit.

According to the article, the real problems, many observers contend, are those that have always plagued the industry: a mismatch of ecology and economics and a lack of cooperation among fishermen and dealers renowned for cutthroat competition.
