The Providence Journal details the efforts of Jim Bedell, who wants all of Rhode Island’s beachfronts open to the public.

Bedell claims that the state’s Constitution provides the public with broader rights to the shore than is commonly understood.

Further, he says that while houses are being built and upgraded all along the coast, the state’s southern shore has been steadily and dramatically eroding, further limiting public access.
