A Nantucket man has gained internet fame after grabbing a shark by the tail and pulling it to shore on Sconset Beach, Nantucket, Sunday night.
According to the Inquirer and Mirror, Elliot Sudal was surfcasting for bluefish in Sconset when he managed to reel a seven-foot shark onto the beach long enough to take a few photos and then release it back into the surf alive.
The shark appeared to be a sandbar shark. The species frequent inshore shallow coastal waters from Cape Cod to Florida, according to NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center.
