Navigating the breachway between Block Island Sound and Ninigret Pond demands caution in rough conditions. Photo/BoatingLocal.

Ocean House Marina on Ninigret Pond in South County, Rhode Island, has produced an informative video on how to safely navigate the inlet leading into the pond. Also known as the Charelstown Breachway, this notorious inlet is bordered by shallow rocks and can be a treacherous spot, especially on the outgoing tide opposite an onshore wind.

The video, hosted by Ocean House owner Rob Lyons, tells you the best times to run the inlet, including how to time the swells, and also how to make your way through the shallow Ninigret pond, which is a beautiful spot to visit.
