New Bedford-based rope distributor R&W Rope  is hosting a free, family-friendly event on Saturday, April 5, to feature ropework demonstrations by expert knot-tyers and splicers, as well as informational sessions on recreational climbing, fitness, and rescue. It’s also R&W’s biggest sale of the year, with marine ropes and supplies (and everything in the warehouse) on clearance.

R&W operates a full-service rigging and rope facility, with mooring pendants, dock lines, standing and running rigging custom assembled to order in house. R&W is also a distributor of unique and hard to find rope and rope accessories; custom cordage for utility, outdoor, and safety use.

Rope Fest event is a high-energy, old-fashioned kind of event for all ages that helps people usher in the spring boating season.

Doors open at 8:00 a.m.

A session on how to tie a monkey fist and dragon fly knot will be held at 11:00 a.m.

A demo on performing a double braid splice will be held at 2:00 p.m.
