Boaters cruising Massachusetts’ New Bedford Harbor on Saturday (July 13) morning should expect delays as more than 300 swimmers will try to cross the harbor for the 2013 Buzzards Bay Swim.

The Buzzards Bay Coalition’s annual swim is a 1.2-mile open-water swim across outer New Bedford Harbor is a signature outdoor event held by the coalition, a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to restoring clean water, protecting natural lands, and promoting the use and enjoyment of the bay and its watershed. This year’s Buzzards Bay Swim is expected to be the largest in the event’s 20-year history, with 328 swimmers registered to participate.

Warm-ups will be begin as early as 6:00 a.m., and the swim will begin at 7:25 a.m.
