In this Tuesday’s episode of New England Boating TV, airing at 6:00 p.m. hosts Parker Kelley and Tom Richardson visit Nantucket, Massachusetts. This low-lying island off Cape Cod has seen a lot of changes over the last 300 years, and today it serves as a bustling summer boating and vacation destination—as you’ll see.
Tom and Parker get things started by launching their Boston Whaler 250 Outrage at the Bass River ramp in Yarmouth then making the 18-mile run across a calm Nantucket Sound. After arriving, they get a detailed harbor tour from George Bassett, dockmaster at the Nantucket Boast Basin. George explains how to safely navigate the main channel and how to get around the busy inner harbor.
Later in the show, Capt. Bob Decosta of the charter boat Albacore takes Tom and Parker to the Sconset Light for a bit of striper fishing. Also on the hit list is a visit to the Cisco Brewery, a harborside feast at the Brant Point Grill at the White Elephant Resort, a bit of beach time, and a look at some of the many shops in town.
