New England lighthouses fans should mark their calendars for July 13. 2013. That’s the day the U.S. Postal Service’s new lighthouse series continues with New England Coastal Lighthouses, a set of 5 Forever stamps honoring Portland Head (Cape Elizabeth, ME), Portsmouth Harbor (New Castle, NH), Point Judith (Narragansett, RI), New London Harbor (New London, CT), and Boston Harbor (Boston, MA).
The stamps will be dedicated on Saturday, July 13, at 5 separate events across New England. Lighthouse experts, community leaders, and USPS officials will all take part in the festivities.
Here’s everything you need to know to attend:
- Boston Harbor Lighthouse
191w Atlantic Avenue, Boston, MA (on Rose Kennedy Greenway, between Faneuil Hall and The Boston Harbor Hotel)
- Portland Head Light
1000 Shore Road Cape, Cape Elizabeth, ME
- Point Judith Lighthouse

Each ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m., and all of them are free and open to the public.
