General Douglas MacArthur (l-r), President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz on board the USS Baltimore. Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. July, 1944
ProvidenceJournal.com: The Naval War College [in Newport, Rhode Island] on Monday [February 24, 2014] will publish an online link to the war diary kept daily by Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz and his staff as the Navy stormed across the Central Pacific during World War II.
The hefty record — more than 4,000 pages, brittle after decades in storage — had previously been available only to a few historians. It can be accessed at www.usnwc.edu/graybook
