new-research-vessel A new, $2.7 million research vessel is currently being constructed for the Maritime Aquarium and is being billed as a bigger, quieter version of its current counterpart.

The only thing missing from the state of the art 65’ catamaran is a catchy name and as a result, Aquarium officials are giving city students, who will benefit the most from the boat, the chance to name it.

“Long time supporters, George and Carol Bauer bought the naming rights, but decided to let the children name it,” said Maritime Aquarium Education and Vessel Manager, Cathy Hagadorn.
