Our second full day of shooting the Camden episode and the weather couldn’t be better! Bright sun and a light westerly breeze–ideal conditions for boating and making television shows.
Our intrepid and inexhaustible videographer Tommy Costello was up at 4:00 am to shoot the sunrise over Penobscot Bay from the top of Mount Battie. Apparently he captured some awesome time-lapse footage.
After breakfast at the Camden Harbor Inn we met up with the folks at Camden Harbor Cruises for a tutorial on lobstering. We pulled a few pots off Curtis Island and looked at some bugs (all shorts, I’m afraid), then headed back to the harbor.
Next I interviewed Dave Jackson of the Camden Public Library, which manages the beautiful Camden Harbor Park and Amphitheater at the head of the harbor. As I learned from Dave, the harbor park, which opened in 1931, was designed by the sons of Frederick Law Olmstead. Just behind the park is the amphitheater where free concerts, plays and other events are held through the summer.
Right now the crew is taking a breather before a dock and dine segment at the Waterfront Restaurant. I’m thinking lobster roll.
