Boat shoes with socks? Not cool. But even less cool is the inevitable stench caused by a season of such commando fashion. A solution may be in the works thanks to a new Kickstarter campaign for a product called Gekks.

According to the Kickstarter description, Gekks are ultra-thin, moisture-wicking liners that remain firmly attached inside the shoe until the wearer wishes to remove them. In other words, Gekks allow the wearer to slip in and out of his or her shoes barefoot—without causing others to leave the room.

The real hero is a powerful antimicrobial silver yarn, which is said to eliminate odor-causing bacteria. Sounds intriguing, and we’ll keep you posted on developments.

Retail price is expected to run $22-$25 per pair.
