CapeCodOnline: Penikese, an island-based mental health and addiction-treatment facility for teenage boys, plans to open June 23 , nearly a year after program leaders had hoped.
The 9-bed facility will operate at the same site in Buzzards Bay as the former Penikese Island School, which closed in 2011. Becket Family of Services, a nonprofit youth and family therapy provider, partnered with the former school’s board to open the new facility and continue stewardship duties on the island property.
