Portland Press Herald: The city is currently negotiating a settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over violations of the Clean Water Act, the city said Tuesday (Nov. 20) in a press release.

The settlement will seek to address concerns about sanitary sewer overflows, which occur when there is a mechanical/structural failure or blockage in the city’s sewer system.
