The International Yacht Restoration School of Newport, Rhode Island, has expanded its scholarship opportunities for students applying to the school’s 3 full-time programs—Boatbuilding & Restoration, Marine Systems or Composites Technology—in fall 2013.

For all named scholarships, the priority deadline is April 19, and the final deadline is July 1, 2013. IYRS named scholarships are awarded based on both demonstrated financial need and merit.

  • Van Beuren Charitable Trust Scholarship: A total of $5,000 will be awarded to a student who is a Rhode Island resident.
  • Marine Trades Scholarship for Women: A total of $5,000 will be awarded to a female student pursuing an education in the marine trades. Special consideration will be given to women who are entering or changing careers to the marine trades and have shown interest in the field through professional or personal pursuits.
  • Hope Goddard Iselin Fund: A total of $5,000 will be awarded to a female student in her first year of the Boatbuilding & Restoration Program.
  • Antiques & Classic Boat Society Scholarship: A total of $5,000 will awarded to a student attending the Boatbuilding & Restoration Program.
  • Composite Technology Scholarship: A total of $5,000 will be awarded to a student attending the Composite Technology Program.
  • Marine Systems Scholarship: A total of $5,000 will be awarded to a student attending the Marine Systems Program.
  • Boatbuilding & Restoration Scholarship: A total of $5,000 will be awarded to a student entering his or her second year in the Boatbuilding & Restoration Program.
  • Marine Systems (or) Composites Technology 50/50 Scholarship: A student entering either the Marine Systems or Composites Technology program will receive scholarship support equaling 50% of the program’s tuition.
  • Boatbuilding & Restoration 50/50 Scholarship: A student entering the Boatbuilding & Restoration Program will receive scholarship support equaling 50% of the program’s tuition.

In addition, IYRS offers scholarships that are based on need and granted in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
