Right whale, Wart, (February, 2014) CCS NOAA permit 14603.
Massachusetts state officials are asking mariners to slow down while transiting Cape Cod Bay, after at least 90 North Atlantic right whales were seen congregated in the western part of the bay.
All boaters in Cape Cod Bay, whether on small or large vessels, are urged to proceed with “extreme caution” and post lookouts to avoid colliding with the rare whales. Federal and state laws prohibit vessels, unless specifically exempted, from being within 500 yards of a right whale.
