BostonCom-Dam Scituate [Massachusetts] officials are hopeful funding can be procured for a dam removal at Hunter’s Pond, a project that will remove a decaying historic dam in favor of turning the area pond back into a river.

Scituate officials have been looking in to the area for a year and a half, after a road repaving project next to the dam brought the needed repair into the spotlight.

“We don’t own the dam, a private party does, and they don’t want to pay for the dam and don’t want the liability, so the town has taken the lead and they are going along with us,” said Al Bangert, director of the Department of Public Works.
