A fisherman in Wells, Maine, reported seeing a shark on Wednesday (July 31), spawning a search by officials that turned up empty, according to an article by the Portland Press Herald.
The fisherman reported seeing a large fish with a dorsal fin near the Wells Town Jetty at around 5:30 p.m. Police and Maine Marine Patrol agents searched the water, but found no shark. Members of the public are encouraged to report shark sightings near the beach.
