Dead sturgeon that was found near the mouth of the Connecticut River. Photo/Connecticut Fish and Wildlife

A dead 7’ Atlantic sturgeon was found on Saturday, April 26, on the banks of the Connecticut River in Lyme.

No information was given on the cause of death, but the CT Division of Fish & Wildlife has identified it as a female with immature eggs. Biologists are working to determine the age the sturgeon.
