On July 9, 2013, longtime boater David Foynes, president of the Fatty Knees Boat Company, and Parkers Boat Yard of Red Brook Harbor, Massachusetts, will present the 16th annual Share The Waterways event.

The program invites at-risk youth from the Crossroads for Kids summer camp to get on the water and enjoy the beauty of Red Brook Harbor and Buzzards Bay. It was started by Parkers founder Raz Parker 20 years ago when he invited a few kids to take a ride around Bassetts Island on his boat Turmoil. Each year he invited a few more kids until he found himself in need of additional boats. Fortunately, the Red Brook Harbor boating community was ready to step up.

Last year Share The Waters hosted 80 kids on 22 volunteer boats. After the boat tour of Red Brook, the kids enjoy a cookout and a presentation by a variety of groups and organizations. In previous years the Mass. Dept. of Natural Resources has spoken about shellfishing and the Coast Guard has given a presentation of their various duties.
