SeacoastOnline.com: A reported shark sighting off the coast of Rye [New Hampshire] on Tuesday (August 20, 2013) prompted state officials to close the waters to thousands who sought relief at the beach on a hot August day.
Lifeguards called for everyone to get out of the water after multiple reports of a shark sighting. Beachgoers were later allowed to re-enter the water, but no further than ankle deep as a precaution, Police Chief Kevin Walsh said.
