North Atlantic Cod/New England Boating
Gloucester Times: A report released on September 5, 2013, by the National Research Council says that 43% of U.S. fish stocks identified as being overfished were rebuilt or showed good progress toward rebuilding within the 10-year time frame mandated by federal law.
The report also says that 31% of fish stocks were on track to rebuild if sharply reduced fishing levels remain in place, but that 26% of overfished stocks continue to be overfished, due to ineffective enforcement and errors in stock estimates.
