The Rhode Island environmental group Save The Bay is recruiting for spring and summer internships. All internships are available for January or earlier, unless noted. For full descriptions and application process, visit Save The Bay: Volunteer and click on the Internships tab.

SaveTheBay-Intern_2Afterschool Education Internship: Support STB’s education staff in providing fun, hands-on environmental education to students in our afterschool programs. Great for Education majors. Based in Providence with travel to schools in central and northern Rhode Island.

Development Internship: Support membership and fundraising efforts. The skills learned in this internship are transferrable to any career in non-profit development. Based in Providence.
Education Administration Internship: Learn all that goes on behind the scenes of a dynamic education program, from reports and data analysis to scheduling and outreach. Appropriate for Education majors or anyone seeking administrative experience. Based in Providence.

Education and Aquarist Internship: These interns are an essential part of the team managing Save The Bay’s Exploration Center. Care for aquarium tanks and animals, greet visitors, educate families, assist in public programming, and more. While most of our internships are designed for college age and older, this internship also accepts qualified high school students. Based in Newport.

Events Internship: Learn management of large-scale events (such as the Save The Bay Swim). Interns assist with outreach to sponsors and vendors, planning and logistics, and staffing the events themselves. Excellent communication and organization skills required. Based in Providence.

GIS Internship: GIS is a growing field, and this internship is an excellent way to develop your technical skills. Applicants should have more experience than a single GIS class. Based in Providence, can be done from home.

Habitat Internship: Suitable for Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Marine Biology and related majors, this internship will get you out in the field doing hands-on environmental restoration and monitoring. Based in Providence, work occurs all over the State. Available May 2014.

Public Relations Internship: A great opportunity for those in the Public Relations, Marketing or Communications fields. Support the communications team with writing, editing, administrative work, and more. Based in Providence.

Scallop and Eelgrass Restoration Internship: Support scallop and eelgrass restoration in this fieldwork-based internship. Open-water SCUBA certification required. Based in Providence with field days in South County. Available May 2014.

South Coast Center Internship: Care for aquarium tanks and animals, greet visitors, educate families, assist in public programming, and support advocacy for the South Coast. Based in Westerly.

Volunteer Management Internship: A combination of outreach, communication, events management and community organizing, this internship is suitable for a wide number of majors. Interns are responsible for posting volunteer opportunities, scheduling volunteers, data management, and leading volunteer events like beach cleanups and storm drain markings. Based in Providence.
