The Day: Skipper’s Dock, the iconic Stonington, Connecticut, waterfront restaurant, has closed, to be replaced next year by a new eatery run by Jeffrey Gimmel and Nina Bachinsky-Gimmel. The couple currently run an award-winning restaurant called Swoon Kitchenbar in Hudson, New York.
They plan to renovate the Skipper’s building over the winter and spring, and open their new year-round restaurant in April 2014. The menu is described as “New American.”
An auction of Skipper’s Dock items is scheduled for November 7.
