CapeCodOnline: Powerful waves from a few February storms have carved up the coastal bluff at Coast Guard Beach like angry surgeons from the sea. The hack job, however, has revealed pieces of an old wooded swamp that had been mostly buried for decades.

Erosion has exposed a significant chunk of what Cape Cod National Seashore officials say are remnants of a red cedar swamp that is at least 150 years old.
