Two New England trawlers — the Mary K out of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and the Yankee Pride out of Point Judith, Rhode Island — left Thursday (August 15, 2013) on a 12-day yellowtail flounder stock assessment mission, set up by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, according to a column on SouthCoastToday.com.
The column suggests that including fishermen in the survey could help lend much-needed credibility to NOAA’s results.
