Three people are lucky to be alive after their small boat capsized on Maine’s Schoodic Lake during heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday, August 28 (2013), according to an article in the Bangor Daily News.
The three — George Tucker, 75, his wife Beverly, 68, and Charles Jenkins, 77, all of Medford — were riding in a 12’ aluminum boat when a storm struck, producing high winds, heavy rain and lightning. They were a mile away from any shoreline when their boat became filled with water and capsized, MacDonald said. All three were wearing lifejackets and were able to stay with the boat as it drifted for two and a half hours.
