Norwalk Police arrested a New Canaan Park and Recreation commissioner Sunday for his alleged involvement in a dust-up at the Norwalk Yacht Club.

Richard Kilbride, 57, of 500 White Oak Shade, New Canaan, was charged with third-degree assault. He was released on a promise to appear in court and given a court date of July 24.

Kilbride, the commodore at the Norwalk Yacht Club, allegedly got into a heated argument with a Wilson Point man over the usage of the yacht club’s docks.

The Wilson Point man’s dock was damaged and was being repaired, and the Norwalk Yacht Club had allowed him to use their dock, despite protests from some yacht club members, police said.
