January 26, 2011
Boaters who are downsizing and minimizing expenses, yet still desire an onboard generator should look into Next Generation Power’s ultra-compact, lightweight UCM1-3.5 diesel generator designed to fit small to medium-sized vessels where space is at a premium.
With a new 7 hp, single-cylinder Kubota EA330 engine, the generator has 10% more displacement at 330 cc, is EPA Tier 4 compliant and fits where other units can’t.
The most efficient and lowest profile diesel generator in its class, the economical UCM1-3.5 provides 3,500 watts of power, while consuming less than 2/10 gph of fuel on average.
Employing a patent-pending design, it operates at mid-speed, producing less noise, vibration and wear than units that run at 3600 rpm. A state-of-the-art self-tensioning belt and rigid engine-to-generator attachment plate enable the advanced UCM1-3.5 to run at a comfortable 2800 rpm with minimal maintenance. Its heavy-duty 5.0KVA generator end supplies easy starts on even 16,000 BTU air conditioners or multiple, smaller appliances.
With standard one-side service, the UCM1-3.5 measures just 30″ L x 18″ W x 16 1/2″ H and weighs only 200 lbs. with sound enclosure. Available with ignition protection.
