NH Offers Intro to Fly Tying Classes

Interested in learning the art of fly tying? The NH Fish & Game Department’s Let’s Go Fishing Program is offering a free 4-evening introductory course on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in November and December (November 28/30 and December 5/7) in Dunbarton, NH. Participants must commit to attending all 4 sessions.
The course will be taught by master fly tier and Let’s Go Fishing instructor Scott Biron, and will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Dunbarton Public Library, 1004 School Street, Dunbarton 03046.
Preregistration is required and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. The course is limited to 12 participants, age 15 and older. All program materials and equipment will be provided. No experience is required.

Participants will learn to tie several fly patterns that are commonly used in New Hampshire waters. They will be introduced to the use of all of the basic tools and materials necessary to tie flies and learn what the flies imitate. Instructors will also discuss insect anatomy and explain why a particular fly is used.
