NH Officials Call for Dredging of Hampton Harbor
April 10, 2017
Seacoast Online: New Hampshire’s congressional delegates are calling on the Army Corps of Engineers to dredge Hampton Harbor, where they say severe shoaling is harming local marine industries.
U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen wrote a letter March 27 to the Army Corps of Engineers asking for the federal engineering and construction agency to quickly dredge the harbor, last done in 2013. Shaheen wrote that shoaling has caused conditions in the harbor to deteriorate and made it difficult for boats to navigate the harbor. Many vessels, she wrote, are now reliant on the tides to successfully get in and out of the harbor.
