Norwalk, CT, Receives High-Tech Fireboat Grant

The Norwalk Fire Department might be seeing a boat like New York's recently purchased Three Forty Three.

The Hour: The Norwalk Fire Department soon will be in the market for a fireboat capable of detecting chemical, biological radiological, nuclear and explosive threats.

On Friday, Mayor Richard A. Moccia‘s office announced that the city received confirmation that it will receive a Critical Infrastructure Grant Award under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Port Security Program.

The grant amount totals $600,000 and will cover the cost of the high-tech fire boat, according to Norwalk Fire Chief Denis McCarthy, who is also the city’s director of emergency management.
