Notes from the Field: Lake Champlain TV Shoot
July 30, 2013
Arrived in Burlington, VT, yesterday after a 5-hour trek from Massachusetts (the GMC Sierra performed admirably in the towing department). The Whaler tasted sweet water for the first time when we launched her at the community boat ramp around 1:00 p.m.
We hooked up (literally) with local charter captain Brian Dunkling of Sure Strike Charters in nearby Shelburn, and he put us on some lake trout in just a few minutes. Great action for the camera, beautiful fish too. This is deep-water fishing with multiple down riggers, and you can expect to catch upwards of 20 fish per day. Note: you will need a freshwater license, even if you fish with a guide.
Next we returned to Burlington for a harbor tour with Elisa from the Maritime Museum. She showed us Burlington by water, pointing out interesting landmarks, dock and dine restaurants, and places to rent a mooring or slip.
Awoke this morning to a spectacular sunrise. It is going to be a great day on he water!
Can’t wait to get started.
